Corregidor – One of the Best Places for Team Building (Philippines)

Posted by Ada on Category: Adventures, Cavite, Luzon | 16 Comments

Team building activities are done by organizations to specialize in bringing out the best in a team to ensure self development, motivation, improve communication, leadership skills, and the ability to work as a team to solve problem. Being an employee of a corporate organization, I am guilty that this is one of my most awaited events — all-expense-paid.

Last April, I was lucky to be one of the participants to join the Corregidor Adventour Challenge. Surprisingly, aside from historical tour, Corregidor Island also offer this fun and exciting adventure challenge.

What’s with Corregidor? Anung meron sa Corregidor? I have heard this several times whenever I ask someone to join me explore Corregidor. Corregidor played an important role during World War II. It is the Philippine’s first line of defense against Japanese forces and they got bored. So, I added words like ruined barracks, hospitals, tunnels, forest, beach, ghost stories, kamikaze, when telling about Corregidor. I was like, Come on, aren’t you a fan of historical places?

Moving forward, we met up at Sun Cruises port, where the abandoned Jumbo Kingdom Restaurant is located. I finally met these young bloggers from Pinoy Travel Bloggers (PTB) and while waiting for others, I had the chance to know each one of them. I know this is going to be fun as we’re mixture of students, slackers, and employees. One of us ditched work only to experience this fun and exciting challenge! Continue reading »

A Reader asked me — How I spend money on a budget when I travel

Posted by Ada on Category: Adventures, Travel Tips | 31 Comments

A reader made a comment in one of my blog post asking,

Ada, you manage to go travel alone, how do you spend money and budget them all? Tell us your secrets. I love to travel also for some time.

I made the answer a blog post instead.

A Reader asked me -- How I manage to travel alone and how I spend money and budget them
Took this somewhere in Singapore.

In response to her phrase, “you manage to travel alone,” honestly, I have never traveled alone “completely” yet. I like to do so, but I prefer not doing it a lot. Traveling alone may not be for everyone, especially for girls which are common target of bad people. I admit, traveling alone scares me especially when going to a not-so-familiar place. An example of this was my trip to Iloilo for the Dinagyang 2011.

It was my first time going to a provincial airport without a travel buddy — my buddy had an earlier flight which caused me to go to the airport alone. Since I couldn’t figure out the instructions our couch host gave me, I kept asking strangers from time to time while getting to SM Iloilo where vans to airport are located. Nevertheless, I would like to dare myself to solo traveling soon maybe this year or next.

How I Deal with My Parents When I Travel and What They Don’t Know.

Posted by Ada on Category: Adventures, Snorkeling, Travel | 45 Comments

Mad waves silence

There are two kinds of parents, one that may say, “Grow up!” While the other one, “You’ll do as I say because you are still a kid!”

Unfortunately, I have to say, my parents were sometimes the other one. I became sick of just staying inside the house. They are paranoid. I remember when a friend and I already bought a ticket to Ifugao to visit our friend. All were set, until they were like,

“Sasabog yung bus! Wag kang tutuloy!” (The bus will explode! Don’t go!), and was like “Ifugao?? Malambot lupa don ha! Baka mabiktima kayo ng landslide at malibing ng buhay!” (Ifugao?? The soil there isn’t that stable. You might be a victim of soil erosion and will be buried alive).

After Zorb action

I know they just want us to be safe. But as time goes by, I noticed something changed in me. I used to be cheerful and energetic during my high school and college years, my friends and classmates used to know me as the goofy girl in classroom but after I graduated, I noticed that I became unsociable, introvert, timid, and felt depressed.

I just want to see what life has more to offer. They even complained one time saying, “what the heck do you get from traveling?” There are things that they just don’t understand.

Now, these are just some adventures and misadventures that they don’t know: Continue reading »

Charles in Inverted Position
Charles Ortiz in inverted position.

When we arrived, I saw some photos of people who tried ziplining in inverted position. I dared myself to try that position as well as Cai and other bloggers, so our harness is different from others.

The Crew Orienting Us
The crew orienting us.

Before the adventure starts, one of the crews orients us about certain preparations. We would be rafting across the lake to get to the other hill and trek on top where the zipline is set off so make sure to bring water or any drink. Continue reading »

Posted by Ada on Category: Adventures, Davao, Mindanao, Zorbing | 15 Comments

Zorbing

Get ready for this CRAZY WILD experience and become an instant Zorbonaut! A typical zorb for recreation is 9 feet in diameter with shock absorber and harness inside constructed for two riders.

Sunset behind Zorb

I was really excited to try this because I know it’s gonna be fun rolling down the hills with your partner inside, face-to-face, seeing each other SCREAMING!

That's the first pair!
The first pair getting ready to roll down. They were already screaming!

Blogger pals Sarah and Donna were the first pair who tried zorbing. We can’t help to make fun of them since they were already shouting before the zorb rolls!!!

Donna’s face after zorbing!

Now, what are the preparations before zorbing?

Zorbing

There are 4 to 5 people who will assist you before, during, and after the ride. They will make sure that the harness is secured enough to hold your body during the zorbing. Continue reading »
