A Beginner’s Travel Guide to Hiking Mt. Batulao

Mt. Batulao Climb

How to get to Mt. Batulao

Via Bus

Take a bus that is bound to Nasugbu – Lemery. Drop off point is Evercrest Golf Course in Lemery, Batangas. Just tell the conductor that you’ll be going to Mt. Batulao then they’ll know that already. Travel time is roughly 2 to 3 hours.

Once you get to Evercrest, you can either walk or take a tricycle going to the jump-off point which is PHP 20.00 per head. In our case, since we ran out of budget (Jam Liner conductors fooled us and dropped us at the other side of Batangas), we have to walk from Evercrest going to the jump-off point.

Via Car

Follow the route to Tagatay until you see Evercrest.

How Jam Liner bus conductors sucked the life out of us

Mt. Batulao
At Mt. Batulao: Mountaineers with colorful backpacks

In the Philippines, bus conductors are considered as necessity jobs which are unlikely in other countries. In order for them to earn more, they need to go beyond the quota by inviting more people to ride the bus and fill it in a very short period of time.

Since most of us want more money, we tend to be very greedy at times. When we’re greedy and hungry for money, we tend to overlook other people and do not care about them anymore. A great example of this greediness was the recent maltreatment of the bus conductors by one of the bus transport group in Cubao, to be exact, Jam Liner, Inc. (Kamias – Cubao).

We were originally bound to Nasugbu-Lemery, Batangas and told the conductors that we will be going to Mt. Batulao. However, when we arrived, bus to Nasugbu-Lemery was already full. We then have to wait for another bus.

While on the process of going to the waiting area, we were approached by several bus conductors and told us that we could also take the bus bound to Turbina and just drop off Tambo; in which, according to them, more faster and convenient than Nasugbu. Basically, bus conductors gave us more likely, a sales talk. Read more…

Laiya Beach, San Juan Batangas
Location: Laiya Beach, San Juan, Batangas

We went here after camwhoring in the Pahiyas Festival 2010. Thank you Don for letting us stay in your resort ;) .

Boy or Girl

This kid caught my attention. I walked towards her, she looks foreigner at far because of her brown hair and prominent eyes. But when I get closer, her nose explains it all.

Child Portrait

I can’t believe I captured her like that. She’s really curious of what I am doing. I have 55-200mm lens, trying not to get near her because every time I try, she’s splashing me sand with water.

Child Portrait

Such cute kids! Both staring at the kite! I love the water ripples, makes me want to go to that beach again :(

That’s all for now, hope you like them. ;)
