Aside from The Aristocrat Restaurant, two more restaurants were introduced to us during our weekend trip to Subic which both situated in Harbor Point Ayala Mall in Subic Bay Freeport Zone — SumoSam Japanese Restaurant and Seafood Island.

SumoSam  was said to be one of the leading Japanese restaurants in the Philippines in terms of affordability and high-quality Japanese cuisines. I was very excited at that point because I just came back from Japan, and I wanted to see if SumoSam serves Ramen that’s close to an authentic Ramen in Japan or shall I say, if they serve an authentic Ramen?

The place is quite tiny for a large group of people eating altogether, although they have tables outside, it would be nice to dine inside the restaurant itself to enjoy the Japanese atmosphere.

SumoSam Tori Chizu Rolls
Tori Chizu Rolls

Tori Chizu Rolls is one of the best sellers of SumoSam.  It’s mainly made of grilled cream cheese, bacon, chicken. Maybe it was called chizu because of the cream cheese’s prominent taste which is really delectable to the tongue! Valued at PHP 329++, Tori Chizu Roll was the order that gone fast from our table, no doubt it became our instant favorite. Read more…

JEST Camp — A Different Kind of Adventure in Subic

JEST Camp Aerial Adventure Walk
Preview of JEST Camp Aerial Adventure Walk

After getting high at Treetop Adventure, we immediately advanced to JEST Camp, a military-like activity camp area which is located in the same vicinity of Treetop Adventure. And just before the adventure began, we were welcomed by a peacock. There were actually a lot of them, a sign that you’re about to experience the wilderness.

Originally, we were to try the Jungle Survival training but since it was already late in the afternoon, they informed us that Bird Discovery Center (Bird Sanctuary and Aviary Walk) and Aerial Walk were the things that we’d try instead.

JEST Camp, Luto sa Kawayan

Tours in zoos or aviaries are usually boring; but thanks funkiest JEST Camp tour guide! We were really entertained by his new-fashioned jokes that made the entire tour interesting and unforgettable.

He first introduced the “Luto sa Kawayan” which, according to him, was one of the menus they serve in the military restaurant. We even noticed a young good-looking cook and unfortunately, I was only able to capture his sexy back.

JEST Camp, Subic

As we go along, we were introduced to different kind of aviary where some rare bird species can only be found. They were very active the time were explored the area. They were lodged in a huge birdcage where all of them looked healthy and plump, an indication that birds were very well fed. Read more…

The Aristocrat Restaurant in Subic Bay Review

The Aristocrat Restaurant Subic Review

It was my first time at The Aristocrat Restaurant which claimed to be the “Home of the Best Chicken Barbecue in Town.” I’ve seen The Aristocrat Restaurant before while walking around Araneta Center, Cubao on my to Gateway Mall. The restaurant wasn’t exactly looked posh or elegant from the word itself ‘aristocrat’, instead, the place looked very homey and accommodating.

It never occurred to me to dine in this restaurant until I visited (together with my bloggers friends) their branch in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. For a first timer like me, I didn’t feel intimated upon the entrance through the door. Employees greeted us with smile and politely assisted us to our seat.

The place is neat and the colorful chairs and nice ceiling lights made the place looks very bubbly. After not more than 5 minutes, food attendants started to come one by one with food tray cart that contained our order. Wow that was fast! Perhaps Ms. Jeanne (the one who invited us) already reserved the place to guarantee a no waiting-time.

The Aristocrat Iced Tea

First thing they served was our drinks. Everyone of us ordered the Aristocrat Iced Tea, as according to one of the staffs, is their best beverage to quench thirst. And when it was finally on the table, we took a sip and almost forgotten our names. WOW, their iced tea tastes soooo good! Read more…
