It was my first time in Binondo, Manila and I didn’t know that this place is populated by Chinese. Since this is a photowalk, we walked from Recto LRT station to Binondo Church.

Location: Laiya Beach, San Juan, Batangas

We went here after camwhoring in the Pahiyas Festival 2010. Thank you Don for letting us stay in your resort ;).

This kid caught my attention. I walked towards her, she looks foreigner at far because of her brown hair and prominent eyes. But when I get closer, her nose explains it all.

I can’t believe I captured her like that. She’s really curious of what I am doing. I have 55-200mm lens, trying not to get near her because every time I try, she’s splashing me sand with water.

On topic, I went to Bagasbas Beach, Daet last May 9 with Travel Factor. The beach is perfect for beginners in surfing. I can say that waves here are much better than in La Union.

Due to many activities happening by the seashore, I find children playing an awesome capture.

I am not satisfied with result of my post process. The contrast is very strong in these photos.

These photos might be very dull in some monitors with low brightness. Anyway, these are just practice shots that I would love to share and for you to see how strong waves are in Bagasbas beach.

Calaguas Islands is in Vinzons, Camarines Norte. It isn’t popular yet for some, thus, Calaguas is a very virgin beach and probably isn’t perfect for party goers.

There are many Islands in Calaguas, bounded by white sand, but only 1 beach is open for tourist. Though, you can go island hopping, you can not litter, spit, or spend long time in each island.

Calaguas beach is perfect for campers, hikers, and adventurers. You can climb the nearest mountain but be careful and seek assistance first to one of the locals there.

Adventure. We tried climbing wanting to reach top but we failed to go further. The steepness is not the problem, it is the thorny plants. You may want to bring ax, wear long sleeves and pants. One of the locals there said many people who attempt to climb find it hard to go down. So prepare your throat to shout downwards for help.

Water. Regarding water and toilet, there’s a water pump nearby but you can’t drink water form it. You need to buy gallons of water before going to Calaguas. Toilet doesn’t have faucet too, so before gushing out your hatred, you’ve got to pump water first Good luck on that, lol.

Sleepovers. You are aware that Calaguas beach is a virgin island. There are no rooms for rent. Prepare your backbones and bring something soft for your back. Always be prepared when rain falls. Your tent should be waterproof. It is recommended to you have life vest with you while sleeping, high tide is unpredictable. You don’t want to wake up in the middle of the sea lol

Relaxation. You can set up umbrella by the shore. Watch the romantic sunset or the lovely sunrise on the same spot. Calaguas beach has a perfect perspective of these natural phenomenon.

Other activities If you have snorkeling gear never mind using it, though you can use goggles. You can not see anything beneath water except for white sands. This Calaguas beach doesn’t have live corals under, only sand, pure sand.

Though, there is 1 island there that is ideal for snorkeling, it is the Quinamanukan Island, you can go there by renting a boat for P200, you can go island hopping with P200.

You can do photo op, play beach volleyball, jump shots, etc.

You can also walk to the other side of the island and witness the breathtaking scenery of green meadows at the opposite side.

Calaguas is a very beautiful virgin beach. The water is very clear. I’ve been to beaches of Puerto Princesa, Palawan and I can say that Calaguas water is clearer.

How to get to Daet. Bus terminals from Manila: In front of Ali Mall, take Amihan bus or Elavil bus. Along EDSA Cubao, take Superlines Bus. Along EDSA in front of Farmers Market, take Philtranco. Philtranco is also in Pasay. Travel time is about 7 to 8 hours.

How to get to Calaguas beach. Ride a jeepney going to town of Vinzons to rent a boat going to Calaguas group of Islands. Travel time from town port of Vinzons to Calaguas is 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Such very simple place. No electricity and water faucet, and the toilet doesn’t have door. You need to cover yourself with a big plywood and pray that wind won’t blow it!!

First time using ND8 filter borrowed from Kuya Sherwin Garbo

I went there together with my club members, Marikina Digital Photographers Club. It’s a 12-hour ride from Manila!! It was Maundy Thursday and it’s really hard to find open karinderia with a fast food service, we’re really hungry when we arrived.

The caretakers of the Rock View Beach are very assistive of our needs. Every time our water drums gets empty, they will immediately refill it (by our request) despite of a 2-km rocky road way to reach the main water supply. One gallon of water is P10.

I’ve learned many things about photography. With my mentors, I learned how to set up white balance to achieve a great result in IR, using ND8 filter, and reversed macro mode. I also learned a joke ass word, from telephoto to teleboso.

There are yet so many good resort in Bolinao. There’s a whitehouse located there but we weren’t able to see it due to time discrepancies. I will definitely go back there with my friends and will bring own tent at that time. You can also browse my complete set of photos here. But I don’t think I can go there by land anymore LOL. A 12-hour ride is really a pain in the ass.

Yesterday, there’s sunrise. Tomorrow, there’s another sunrise. At the end of the day, there’s sunset. I don’t know what I’m talking about here right now.

But I’m glad to tell you guys that Micaela Rodriguez, a good friend of mine, just had a successful premiere launch of her 2nd short story film entitled “12th of June” before the 2009 ends.

The story begins as Eloisa Lajara (Jade Lopez) wakes up every morning doing routines such as blogging, twitting, and working as virtual assistant. A very busy woman and doesn’t have time even for herself.

Eloisa accidentally bumped her long time sweetheart.

Two lovers who brought a typical BF-GF chats in the story.

The story brings an shocking twist at the end. The short film is not yet published online, as Mica is currently having negotiation with producers. Watch out!!
