Everyone at work thought I was sick that moment, when in fact I was just freely traveling in Malaysia! And if you’re my boss reading this blog right now, I apologize that I lied having told you I was not feeling well. I didn’t want to sign a waiver that will make things complicated. Sometimes, you have to break company policies! Y.O.L.O! (You only live once)
So what really made me go on AWOP. First, I haven’t traveled to Kota Kinabalu yet; second, it’s an invitation that is too tempting and hard to decline; and third, I will get to stay at a nice hotel that I can’t afford if I will travel there at my own expense.
Originally, we were bound to stay at Horizon Hotel, but during the last minute they decided to let us stay at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, one of the two hotels of Sutera Harbour Resort, a beautiful 5-star hotel in the heart of Kota Kinabalu.
Upon arrival at the hotel, a very nice smell of the lobby welcomed us, sort of flower fragrance that helped me relax after our flight. We were all starving that time so we headed to their restaurant first (Café Boleh) before checking in.
My first plate. No rice to taste everything!
Green tea cheesecake (awesome must try!), peach tart, and Panna cotta
More chocolate cakes and a jelly cake? YUM
OMG chocolate cake coated chocolate! This is lust!
Make your own salad
They chose the Junior Twin for me and my roommate (which happened to be a great friend of Bino and Flip, I’m honored!) The room smelled nice with perfect overall temperature. Very neat and tidy, and what I really love the most was their comfortable bed. This 5-star hotel has by far the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, with pillows very soft and cuddly!
The Jugs Sports Bar
Complimentary drinks are served at this amazing sports bar just at the basement of the hotel. It was really quiet when we entered only to find out we’re the only people inside. How come no one is spending time at this amazing pub??
Upon choosing our seat (at the bartender), the manager welcomed us in Tagalog language. WOW another Filipino. But he told us he’s a Malaysia and just know a bit of the language as he has a lot of Filipino friends. Nice one.
We really didn’t have much time to utilize other facilities as we only stayed here overnight. While walking around the pool area, a very handsome Caucasian man in suit who seemed like a manager greeted me “Hi.” Epic fail though as I replied with “Hello, Good morning” knowing it was already afternoon. I just can’t compose myself well when greeted by a handsome man. I always die!
I hope you enjoyed my photos with a little tidbits of what happened during our stay there. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in this prestigious Hotel and Resort.
