Santa Maria Church or La Asuncion de la Ñuestra Señora Church is one of the 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites Baroque Churches of the Philippines.
Oh yeah! I have been to 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites Baroque Churches of the Philippines! The first one was the Paoay Church. Two more churches woot!!
Santa Maria Church was built in 1765 under Augustinian order. The bell tower was constructed a distance away from the main church to prevent possible main church damage from earthquakes. Continue reading »

Every place here in Laoag is historical! I have seen Paoay Church (also known as Church of San Agustin) in photos but nothing compares to its gorgeousness when you saw it in real. It is very old, huge, and stunningly beautiful!
Our jaw dropped when we saw it in person. I can’t explain the feeling while looking at the church. I envy people who lives there because the moment they go outside their houses, their time is frozen to 1593.
I am sorry but it is OHMYGOD this the most beautiful church I have ever seen in my entire life!!
I took a closer look to the structure of the church and the brick walls are destroyed not by humans but by nature because of oldness. Continue reading »
